Secondary metallurgy

 

Two ladle furnaces are employed in the refining of steel. In this phase of the production it takes place not only the metallurgical refining of the liquid steel, such as for example the desulphurisation, but also the adjustment of the chemical composition and the setting of the correct casting temperature.

 

Vacuum degassing facility

To guarantee our customers a better degree of oxide purity LSW has installed two vacuum degassing plants for the carrying out of the refining process. The ladle is lowered inside a larger cauldron with a lid cover carriage that is then tightened down in order to suck out the air and the harmful substances and form a vacuum in which the steel can be refined by stirring it with inert gases.
