Metallography

For the metallographic analysis we avail ourselves of the following possibilities:

Manual as well as full-automatic specimen production and preparation:
  • Struers Discotom-50
  • Struers Abra Pol-10
  • Struers Abra Plan-10
For light microscopic inspections we avail ourselves of stereo and reflected-light-microscope. To determine, for example, the microscopic purity degree according to DIN 50602, ASTM or more recently EN 10247 we employ:
  • Zeiss Imager Z1 M
  • Zeiss Imager A1 M
These microscopes are also used to determine the primary and secondary corn size according to DIN 50601 as well as the different structures of steel.

With the scanning electron microscope (SEM) we have the possibility to find and determine inclusions down to a size of 2ym.
  • Zeiss EVO MA 15 with Oxford EDX-System: W-Filiament or LaB6-cathode. SE, BSE Detector. Dry cooled digital EDX Detector. INCA Feature-Software for the determination of the purity degree or particle analysis.
Micro and macro etching procedures are used to visualise the microstructure condition of the raw steel. Sulphur prints for the determination of the structure of cast steel are also standard procedure.
