1970
Foundation of the Bayerische Elektrostahlwerke (BEST) by Luigi Giussani to exploit the output of car scrap in Bavaria.
1972 Put into operation of the plant with an expected initial production of 300,000 tons per year.
1976 The company changes ist name into Lech-Stahlwerke GmbH (LSW). New partnership structure. The Aicher KG takes over a participation of 5%.
1988 The German “Land” of Bavaria enters in the company. The Max Aicher Group increase its participation to 11%.
1992 The Max Aicher Group becomes majority partner of Lech-Stahlwerke with 80%.
2002 Yearly production for first time over 1 million tons of raw steel.
2004 Introduction of the ultrasound testing in immersion (according to SEP 1927) for the determination of the macro purity degree of steel.
2005 Fully automatic spectrographic line (grinding machine, robot system, spark emitting spectrometer, radioactivity measurement). Installation of the first vacuum-degassing facility to increase the purity degree of steel.
2007
Installation of filter no. 4 (secondary dust removal). Suction performance of 1,000,000 m³ per hour.
Cooling system connected with the river Lech canal: excess warmth resulting from the plant is conveyed to the canal through a paneled warmth-exchanger.  Saving of about 80,000 m3 deep spring water through conversion to a circular cooling system.
2008 Acquisition of a microscope (scanning electron microscope or SEM).
Noise reduction measures for 1,2 million EUR: installation of a silencer on the roof, sound-insulating scrap bucket car and gates, noise protecting walls.
